Local Plan
Our Local Plan sets out policies and proposals to guide planning decisions and establishes a framework for sustainable economic growth and development in the Borough up until 2032.
Our Local Plan (PDF) [8MB] covers issues including:
- how many new homes are needed and where they should be located
- the amount and proposed location of new employment land
- how we can protect and enhance the natural and historic environment
- plans for new infrastructure and the improvement of town centres and community facilities
We use our Local Plan (PDF) [8MB] and the maps associated with it to help us make decisions on planning applications.
The Government requires all councils to review their Local Plans every five years. Our current Local Plan is due for review by 30 January 2024, and is being reviewed in 2023.
