As part of the Self-build and Custom Housebuilding Regulations 2016, the government is encouraging people to build their own home.

Our register allows us to keep track of demand for self and custom build plots in the Borough so that we can make informed decisions about land use when developing our housing and planning policies.

Join the self and custom build register

You can register your interest to build your own home to be considered for plots that might be suitable for your plans.

Registering with us does not guarantee that a suitable plot will become available or that we will grant planning permission for your specific requirements.

You can register either by yourself or as part of a group. To register you must be:

• over 18 years old
• a British Citizen (or citizen within the European Economic Area or a national of Switzerland)
• seeking to acquire a serviced plot of land to build a house as your main residence
