Support for unpaid carers
We work in partnership with the Stockton-on-Tees Adult Carers' Support Service to ensure that unpaid carers can also access support, training and information.
Stockton-on-Tees Adult Carers' Support Service
The service offers a variety of different services to local carers including:
- advice, information and signposting
- home visits or meet in a venue more suitable to the carer giving time to talk through the challenges and find solutions
- statutory carers assessment support planning and carers' Personal Budgets
- 'Time Out' support, sitting service for carers
- carers' emergency cards and contingency planning
- practical help with completing forms, referrals to specialist services and support in meetings
- a listening ear, telephone, email and social media support
- training, workshops and events promoting opportunities for peer support, gaining skills and knowledge
- regular peer support groups
- ensuring carers have a voice shaping services
- email bulletins and quarterly newsletters
Training, education or employment
The service also helps carers who wish to gain paid employment or to access volunteering, training or education opportunities. This is a great way for you to gain knowledge and to meet other carers in a relaxed environment. Courses range from practical help with caring such as managing medication, infection prevention and control through to digital skills and areas that focus on your own wellbeing and development.
