The week began with an induction session at Teesside International Airport on Monday for myself and other members of committees on Tees Valley Combined Authority (TVCA). These sessions provide an in-depth overview and explanation of the Combined Authority Group, and give members the opportunity to learn about the role and responsibility of each committee.

On Tuesday I attended a General Licensing Committee meeting in the Jim Cooke Conference Suite.

This was followed by a catch up with one of the Borough's ward councillors to discuss any issues in their area and the wider Borough. I was joined by Deputy Leader Cllr Lisa Evans.

Later I joined a Members' briefing session, which was held remotely.

Midweek saw an online catch up with Kay Glew, Director of Operations at Thirteen Housing Group.

On Wednesday afternoon I joined the monthly online Tees Valley Leaders' Meeting where, among other things, we discussed the current Covid-19 situation in the region.

It was then my pleasure to attend the Stockton-on-Tees Community Partnerships Community Star Awards at Preston Park Museum. The Awards recognise the local people, often the unsung heroes, that make a positive difference to their communities. We're really lucky to have so many people across our Borough who contribute so much, so well done to all the winners.

Yesterday morning I met with Cleveland Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Steve Turner for an update on crime and policing issues in the Borough.

This afternoon I will be joining a meeting online of the Local Government Authority's City Region Board, which meets regularly to discuss growth, transport infrastructure, skills and wider public service reform.

This weekend I'm looking forward to spending time with my family. I'll also be watching how Middlesbrough get on as they head to bottom of the table Coventry. Boro sit just two places above them after a poor start to the season, so hopefully a win will see us lifted out of the relegation zone.
