Universal Credit
Universal Credit is a single monthly payment issued by the Department for Works and Pensions for people in or out of work.
What benefits did Universal Credit replace?
Universal Credit replaced the following benefits:
- Housing Benefit
- Income Support
- Income-based Jobseeker's Allowance
- Income-related Employment and Support Allowance
- Child Tax Credit
- Working Tax Credit
Instead of getting a separate Housing benefit payment, your housing costs will be paid as part of your monthly Universal Credit payment. It will be your responsibility to pay your rent to your landlord.
Council Tax Reduction payments are not included in Universal Credit. For more information visit our Council Tax Reduction page.
