Temporary use notice
Temporary use notices allow the use of premises for gambling where there is no premises licence but where a gambling operator wants to use the premises temporarily for providing facilities for gambling.
A temporary event notice could be used for a one-off event or until somewhere more permanent is found. Examples of premises that might be suitable are:
- hotels
- conference centres
- sporting venues
Before you apply
Before applying for a temporary use notice you'll need to:
- apply for an operating licence
- read the relevant sections of our Statement of Licensing Principals
How to apply
You must apply no less than 3 months and one day before the day on which the gambling event will begin.

What happens next?
If we refuse your application, you may be able to appeal this decision to the Magistrates' Court or First-Tier Tribunal. Full details will be included in any refusal notice.Refusals
