Register to vote

The easiest way to register is by using the government's online service. You can also use this service to update your details on the register.

You will need to provide your date of birth and national insurance number to help us verify your identity.

Why should you register to vote?

You should register to vote because:

• it allows you to vote in local and national elections and referendums
• it can help your credit rating and reduce the chance of you being refused a bank account, loan or mortgage

Voter ID

This year's local elections will be the first time that people across the UK will need to show photographic ID to vote at a polling station.
