Public Space Surveillance

We recognise that some people regard surveillance cameras as an infringement of personal liberty. We believe that everyone has the right to respect for their private and family life. 

That's why we ensure our cameras are carefully positioned and used in a way that respect people's privacy. It is also why we maintain independent accreditation to ensure what we do is always of the highest professional standard and follows the latest national guidance and best practice.

We have a policy of never allowing footage, captured by our CCTV network, to be sold to media companies. For further advice and information regarding our Public Space Surveillance, contact our team on security.surveillance@stockton.gov.uk or 01642 528989.

Access to Footage 

You have a right to access images of yourself that may have been recorded in a public place. If the CCTV footage we capture constitutes 'personal data' and shows any individuals who can be clearly identified, then access to footage is available and governed by the Data Protection Act.

Safer Streets Fund

As part of the work to deliver the Safer Streets project, additional CCTV locations have been identified in the Tilery and Portrack area to help improve public safety and reduce both crime and anti-social behaviour.
