Places available at Stockton-on-Tees crematorium open days
Stockton-on-Tees Crematorium is hosting two open days.
Members of the public interested in finding out more about the facility are invited to book a place to speak with staff and have a look around.
Based just off Junction Road in Roseworth, the finishing touches are being made to the crematorium and its remembrance gardens ahead of it opening in September.
When are the open days?
The open days will take place between 10am and 2.30pm on Saturday 24 August and Tuesday 27 August.
What will people see on the open days?
They will see the full range of facilities available for holding a service at the crematorium and be advised on what is available to commemorate a loved one.
The crematorium's two beautifully-furnished chapels have been named Maplewood and Bluebell.
Maplewood is the larger of the two and can comfortably seat 120 mourners with space for an additional 50 standing. Bluebell can seat 50 mourners and is suited for those wishing for a more intimate service.
What do councillors think?
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Environment and Transport, Councillor Mike Smith said: "Across Stockton-on-Tees more families are choosing cremation over burial than ever before, so I am pleased that we are now able to meet the needs of bereaved families in their own community.
"We are inviting the public to these open days so they can find out about the different ways people can remember their loved ones while seeing first-hand what a caring and tranquil place our crematorium is."
How do I book a place at the open days?
Places are limited and available on a first come, first served basis. To book email egds@stockton.gov.uk or call 01642 526709 (Monday-Friday, between 9am and 5pm).
