New exhibition to tell star studded Globe story

They have all performed at the Globe in Stockton - and an exciting new exhibition opening at Preston Park Museum on Tuesday (23 July) will explore the Art-Deco, Grade II-listed theatre's fascinating story.

'Stockton Globe Encore: The Past, The People, The Place' will bring together the Globe's past alongside its exciting future as a 21^st Century live music and comedy venue.

It will feature a virtual Globe tour giving visitors the opportunity to see inside the building as well as a film and photographs to portray memories of its heyday.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council's Cabinet Member for Councillor Jim Beall, said: "We have an incredible team of committed and enthusiastic volunteers who are giving up their time to record not only the ongoing restoration of this iconic building, but also its varied and intriguing history and heritage.

"This exhibition will bring this work to life and is a great opportunity to learn more about the Globe's journey from an Art Deco theatre to a 21^st Century live entertainment venue."

The Globe's restoration is benefitting from a £4.5million National Lottery grant secured through The National Lottery Heritage Fund's Heritage Enterprise scheme.

The exhibition will run from Tuesday 23 July until Sunday 6 October.  Entry is free with museum admission.
