Is your home safe? Get free advice at this Stockton event
Free home safety advice and accessories will be on offer at a special event on Stockton High Street this week.
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council and Stockton Home Safety Association are inviting people to the event, outside of Stockton Town Hall, on Wednesday (October 23) from 10am to 2pm.
Officers from the Council will be on hand to provide safety advice, information and guidance on a wide range of issues including home security, scam awareness, household dangers to babies and children, vulnerable people and over 65s, as well as first aid and advice on how stay warm at home.
Representatives from Cleveland Fire Brigade will also be on hand to give fire safety advice throughout the event.
Councillor Steve Nelson, Stockton Council's Cabinet Member for Access, Communities and Community Safety, said: "Most people are aware of common hazards around the home but it's important to be aware of lesser known dangers, such as the latest scams.
"There will be a range of expert representatives at this event next Wednesday, and anyone who visits will be able to receive free guidance and products to ensure their home is safe for all members of the family."
Those who attend the event will also have the chance to enter a prize draw to win a £25 shopping voucher.
There will also be a range of free safety accessories on offer, including purse bells, door chains, debit/credit card protectors, bath mats, and drawer and cupboard locks.
