Council to publish weekly coronavirus (COVID-19) data to give residents 'quick and accurate' local picture

The information, compiled by the Council's Public Health team, includes the number of cases and deaths, as well as comparisons with the regional and national picture.

It will be published on the Council's website every Wednesday, starting today (August 26).

Councillor Bob Cook, Leader of the Council and Chair of the Borough's Local Outbreak Engagement Group (LOEG) said: "We're mindful that there's already a whole host of COVID-19 data out there so what we've aimed to do here is pull the Stockton-on-Tees data together into a very simple, easy to follow 'dashboard' format that gives people a quick and accurate picture of the position in our Borough.

"Today's figures show that our rates remain relatively low but it's very important that we're not complacent. We don't want to see a local lockdown here and the best way to avoid that is for us all to keep on doing our bit to minimise the risk of the virus spreading. That means sticking to preventative measures like social distancing and hand washing because these things are only effective when we all do them.

"We will of course, be keeping the format and content of the dashboard under review so that we can adjust it if and when more data becomes available to us, or if data collection methods change over time."
