Council continues to deliver value for money, say auditors
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council delivers value for money for its residents, according to external auditors.
Mazars LLP have completed their official annual audit and findings of the 2018/19 report were detailed to members of Cabinet on Thursday (17 October).
Presenting the Annual Audit Letter to Cabinet, Mazars Director, Gavin Barker, said: "The Council has made proper arrangements to secure economy, efficiency and effectiveness in its use of resources."
Following the meeting Councillor Bob Cook, Leader of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, added: "Once again we're very pleased that external auditors have acknowledged the work this authority is putting in to deliver value for money services to our residents in light of the considerable financial challenge we face.
"The report acknowledges the ongoing uncertainty around local government finances, following severe Government funding reductions, coupled with the increasing demand on services.
"Much of the future picture depends on the Government's comprehensive spending and fair funding reviews as well as any changes to the business rates system.
"We're encouraged that the audit has recognised our determined efforts, throughout these difficult times, to deliver savings and develop our partnership working to ensure our residents' best interests are at the forefront of all decision-making."
