Community clean-up action takes place in Thornaby
Street cleaning, litter picking, graffiti removal and weed clearing have spruced up neighbourhoods in Thornaby today (Thursday, 24 October) thanks to a community clean-up.
The day, which was organised by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council in partnership with social landlords, Cleveland Police and a range of local community, voluntary and social enterprise organisations, saw more than a dozen streets tidied.
Around 40 people came together to lend a hand cleaning up around the Peel Street and St Paul's Road areas.
Leader of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council, Councillor Bob Cook, said: "Residents take a great deal of pride in their neighbourhoods and I'd like to say thank you to everyone who got involved today. Our work together has made a real difference to these streets and made the area around Westbury Street, Thornaby Road and Oxford Road clean and tidy too.
"The clean-up days have seen an excellent community effort to improve standards and we look forward to organising more in the future."
