Climate coalitions

Working in partnership with those who are already taking action for the environment, as well as encouraging and enabling more people to get involved.

To do this, the Council has set up the four following independent climate coalitions:

  • business - we are in communication with a range of businesses across the area
  • communities - this is alongside our partners Catalyst at the heart of the community
  • creative - this coalition is led by ARC Stockton Arts Centre
  • youth - in partnership with Bright Minds Big Futures and the Council's Engagement Team

The aim of each coalition is to bring people and organisations together and work collaboratively to help the Borough to deliver the Government's 'net zero target'. That means achieving a balance between the carbon emitted into the atmosphere, and the carbon removed from it.

Each coalition is tasked with forming an action plan of activities to help reach the target and create the best possible environment for the next generation with the support of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council.

Stockton Business Climate Coalition

The Stockton Business Climate Coalition brings together a range of businesses at different stages of their sustainability journey. Members have one thing in common: a shared enthusiasm to maximise this unique opportunity by working in collaboration. Together they have already developed some great ideas on how they can engage and learn from each other.

Members meet on a monthly basis, both in-person and online, to share good practice and find out about opportunities for support and collaboration.

We welcome members from businesses of any size or sector, from sole traders, to small and medium-sized enterprises, and multinationals. We want to help businesses save money, become more competitive and also reduce their carbon emissions in the process.

The coalition also welcomes all businesses to pledge to become a greener business. Pledge today to take any step to be more sustainable, adopt greener practices and help the environment. For example, our food businesses have pledged to stop using single-use cutlery and increase their recycling efforts.
