Care leavers local offer - your relationships
Healthy relationships are an important aspect of positive mental health and wellbeing.
There are many different factors that play a part in healthy relationships.
They include:
- mutual respect
- trust
- honesty
- support
- fairness
- communication
Your Personal Adviser can help you to understand what a healthy relationship looks like and what unhealthy relationships can look like. They can also support you to access advice in specific areas such as sexuality, feelings, and confidence. If you have a personal relationship that worries you in some way, please talk it through with your Personal Adviser so that we can help you to make the situation work better for you.
We can help you identify the people who are the most important, who has had a positive impact on you or are special to you, and we can support you to keep in contact with those people. This might include people who cared for you in the past, family members or Social Workers.
We can also support you to find regular clubs, groups, and events where you can stay connected with other young people who have similar experiences to you, and we can help with travel costs too.
Further information is available on Stand Alone's website.
Support to be a parent
If you are a parent or expecting a baby, we will support you to become the best parent you can be. We can introduce you to key services in the borough to make sure your child or children have the best start in life.
Having a baby is an exciting time, but also challenging. As a care experienced parent, you are entitled to extra support from your child's Health Visitor to give you and your baby extra reassurance, support, and guidance when you become a new parent.
We have a range of services available in our local family hubs. Your personal adviser can accompany you to your local hub to introduce you to the staff and help you find drop ins, groups and courses that may be suitable for your journey from pregnancy, managing a toddler through to teenage years.
We will also run events and groups for care experienced parents and pregnant care experienced women from the No Limits Hub. This is a centre for care experienced young people in Stockton-on-Tees.
More support is available on the young parents advice webpage on the Family Rights Group website.
