Domestic energy efficiency service
The domestic energy efficiency service aims to reduce fuel poverty across the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees and assist residents to access solutions to improve energy efficiency in their homes.
We provide advice support and assistance to people who are:
- residents of Stockton on Tees
- living in own property or in private rented accommodation
- living in fuel poverty (a financial assessment will be carried out)
- energy efficiency issues
What will the domestic energy efficiency officer do?
Initially to confirm eligibility for the service the domestic energy efficiency officer will carry out:
- an assessment of the households' current fuel consumption
- an assessment to determine if the household is in living in fuel poverty
Advice on improving domestic fuel poverty will be offered to all who engage with the service where needed.
Energy efficiency solutions will only be pursued for residents confirmed to be residing in fuel poverty and who have an energy need:
- residents with need will be supported with access to energy efficiency grants, identifying solution to bespoke issues
- small interventions via the home improvement agency handyperson will be actioned (low-level DIY type work- draft excluders, low energy light bulb installation's for example)
- support residents to access grants via Warm Homes Healthy People partner organisations, this may include conducting an, energy performance certificates to confirm the properties performance rating to access grants
- the domestic energy efficiency officer may apply role specific skills such as completing property energy assessments, energy performance certificates, and thermal imagery assessment to pinpoint energy need at the address
- connect residents to the support needed to reduce fuel poverty in the household; referrals to Stockton and District Advice Information Service, the training and employment hub, housing services

- pitched roof insulation
- flat roof insulation
- room in roof insulation
- cavity wall insulation
- external wall insulation
- internal wall insulation
- floor insulation (solid or suspended floors)
- air source heat pumps
- ground source heat pumps
- gas boilers
- electric boilers
- biomass boilers
- heating controls
- electric storage heaters
- solar PV panels
- draught proofing
