Contractors and suppliers wanted at Stockton-on-Tees Meet the Buyer Event
There will be fantastic opportunities for contractors and suppliers to access opportunities to support delivery across a range of exciting projects that are set to transform the Borough at a 'Meet the Buyer' event being held in Stockton this month.
The event will give businesses the chance to register their interest for a host of work packages associated with a range of prestigious projects in Stockton-on-Tees like:
- Stockton Waterfront urban park
- Preston Park Museum and Grounds' major new development
- Thornaby Town Centre's new swimming pool
- Improvements to Yarm High Street
- The NHS' Community Diagnostic Centre in Stockton
It is being hosted by Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council in partnership with construction contractors Esh Construction, Kier Construction and Galliford Try.
The event takes place at 6pm on Wednesday 29 November at Stockton Baptist Church, The Square.
Councillor Nigel Cooke, Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Housing, said: "This is a fantastic opportunity for local companies across the region to benefit from some of the exciting projects we have coming up across Stockton-on-Tees.
"Ongoing Council investment to transform our Borough is creating and supporting local firms and local jobs. This event is about helping local businesses to connect with the opportunities on offer.
"It's also a chance to meet people, answer any questions they may have and build strong local relationships."
"We're looking forward to welcoming as many potential contractors and suppliers, who will be as keen as we are to make these important projects another key ingredient in the success of our rejuvenated towns."
The construction projects are part of the Council's plans to further develop the Borough's town centres, ensuring they are vibrant places which are economically successful, attracting investment and fit for future generations.
This includes the bold Stockton Waterfront urban park development, which will reconnect Stockton's High Street to the River Tees and provide open, flexible spaces for community and large-scale events for people of all ages to enjoy. Another key project on this site is the NHS' new Community Diagnostic Hub for the Tees Valley.
Ambitious developments being made possible through a successful bid to the Government's £20million Levelling Up Fund for Yarm and Eaglescliffe are also included in the event.
This includes a modern museum extension to Preston Park Museum and Grounds, with a car park extension, café and toilet refurbishments and wider park upgrades and public realm improvements to Yarm High Street.
Other opportunities include the development of a new swimming pool in Thornaby Town Centre on the former site of Phoenix House, made possible through the £23.9million Thornaby Town Deal.
