Show your support on the Borough's Armed Forces Day and head to Stockton High Street for a packed programme of events honouring our armed forces, past, present and future.

Armed Forces Day recognises the work that members of the Royal Navy, British Army and Royal Air Force, as well as veterans, cadets and armed forces families all play in keeping the UK safe, at home and abroad.

To mark the start of the celebrations a poignant flag raising ceremony, led by the Mayor of Stockton with The Royal British Legion, will take place at Municipal Buildings on Church Road at 10.15am on Monday 19 June.

Then on Armed Forces Day, on Thursday 22 June, Stockton High Street will be buzzing with activity from 9.30am to 3.00pm with wartime musical performances from professionals and schools, military vehicle displays, exhibitions and demonstrations.

Stalls will include:

  • 4th Battalion TheRoyal Yorkshire Regiment
  • 201 Field Hospital
  • 243 Provost Company 1st Regiment Royal Military Police
  • Durham Light Infantry
  • Military Vehicle Trust
  • The Parachute Regimental Association
  • The Royal Air Forces Association (RAFA)
  • Royal British Legion
  • Royal Navy Association
  • REME Teesside
  • VERA Re-enactment

A Thanksgiving Service will be held from 11.45am to 12.15pm in the marquee situated on Stockton High Street and will be led by Father Mark Millward and the Salvation Army Band.

Councillor Bob Cook, Leader of Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council and the Borough's Armed Forces Champion, said: "It's vitally important that we never forget the selfless commitment, endeavour and sacrifice of our Armed Forces to keep us safe at home and abroad.

"Armed Forces Day is a great opportunity for the people of the Borough to join us in honouring all the brave men and women currently serving our country.

"Showing your support for the Armed Forces provides a much-valued morale boost for military personnel and their families and I'd certainly encourage our residents of all ages to join the celebrations on the day."
