Youth Support

Youth Support work with children and young people aged 10 years and above, offering preventative, targeted and specialist interventions.

Our work can vary depending on need. We use a consistent approach when working with our most vulnerable teenagers and young adults, who may have been exposed to, or be at risk of, Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE).

We will provide positive and creative interventions to help them become independent, kind, and respectful young people.

The team has the following four functions.

Youth support

Youth support deliver brief interventions to prevent or reduce the risk-taking behaviours that have been identified within the home or community, building social and emotional resilience. Youth Justice to deliver reparation work and victim support when a young person has entered the criminal justice system.

Street based outreach

Street based outreach interact with children and young people in the community using joined up approaches with community safety, police, partners, VCSE and local groups at a community level.

Personal Adviser - Targeted Youth

Personal Adviser - Targeted Youth workers are multi-functional and provide targeted interventions to children aged 10 and over and may act as the Lead Professional when social care is not involved. Bespoke packages of support are offered when adolescents are at significant risk of becoming excluded, exploited and/or involved in offending. This role also extends to being a Personal Adviser for children who are cared for and will be in receipt of leaving care services with the aim of preparing them for adulthood.

The Personal Advisers are responsible for providing support to all Care Experienced young people aged from 15 and 6 months to 25 with the aim of being a consistent person in their lives, helping them to be safe, build resilience, and supporting them to become happy, safe, and independent adults.

Keeping In Touch

Keeping In Touch workers play a key role in the services we offer to all our young people, young adults, and their families. The role helps maintain contact with our most vulnerable and complex young people to identify low level need and respond quickly to prevent escalation.
