Your views wanted on parliamentary constituency boundary changes
The Boundary Commission for England (BCE) is inviting people to contribute their views on proposals to alter the boundaries of parliamentary constituencies in our area.
They are being reviewed by the national independent body as required by the updated rules in the Parliamentary Constituencies Act 2020 and must be formally reported to the Speaker of the House of Commons by 1 July 2023.
The boundaries reflect the area where the electorate within vote for their Member of Parliament (MP).
The initial proposals would reduce the number of constituencies in the North East from 29 to 27 and would mean changes to constituency boundaries including Stockton North and a renamed Stockton West.
An eight-week period of consultation began on 8 June 2021 and the BCE is required to consider all representations during this time.
Following this stage of consultation, the BCE will publish all submissions on their website for each region.
