Residents' views wanted on ward boundary changes

The existing boundaries are being reviewed by the national independent body to ensure each councillor represents about the same number of electors.

The review also tries to make sure each boundary reflects the identity of that community and makes for effective local government administration.

An initial 11-week consultation was held between October 2020 and January 2021, with a resulting recommendation that the Borough be served by 56 councillors (the same number as now), it should have 26 wards (the same number as now) and that the boundaries of 24 wards should change (with two remaining the same).

The LGCBE are now asking for your views on these boundary changes before the next stage of consultation closes on Monday 19 July 2021.

The commission will then consider all opinions and suggestions received before forming their final recommendations that will be published on Tuesday 5 October 2021.
