Discretionary Housing Payment Policy 2022-23

16.1 The Council will decide the most appropriate person to pay based upon the circumstances of each case. This could include paying in no particular order:

• the claimant
• their partner
• an appointee
• their landlord (or an agent of the landlord)
• any third party to whom it might be most appropriate to make payment

16.2 The Council will pay an award of DHP by the most appropriate means available in each case such as:

• by electronic transfer - BACS for example

16.3 Payment frequency: 

• normally 4 weekly in arrears
• there may be situations where other arrangements are put in place
