The official election period for the Cleveland Police and Crime Commissioner and Tees Valley Mayoral elections begins today (March 19).

Both elections are being held on Thursday, May 2.

And the elections will now use the first-past-the-post voting system, where you vote for a single candidate, and the candidate with the most votes wins the election.

To have your say and vote in these elections, you need to be registered to vote by Tuesday, April 16.

It's quick and easy to register online by visiting the dedicated GOV.UK register to vote web page.
