Hundreds of new jobs and millions of pounds of investment: economic growth in the Borough continues to go from strength to strength
More than £39million was invested by new businesses in the Stockton-on-Tees Borough between May and December last year, a report has revealed.
During this time there were also 307 jobs created in the area across 159 private sector investments.
The figures are included in an update on Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council's Inclusive Growth Report 2022-27, which will be presented to the Council's Cabinet on Thursday (March 16).
The report also details how more than 200 residents have been helped into employment since the Council-ran Employment and Training Hub launched in 2022.
Councillor Nigel Cooke, the Council's Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Housing, said: "The Stockton-on-Tees Borough is a great place to do business and it is really encouraging to hear the investment we are getting from across a range of sectors.
"And there's lots we are doing to help businesses in the area, such as our Business Investment and Growth Fund, which has helped a range of businesses with things like marketing, equipment and accommodation.
"And that's not all when it comes to bringing growth to the area. We're also working with Tees Valley Combined Authority and partners Keepmoat Homes, Muse Developments and Thirteen to deliver funding from the Government's Brownfield Housing Fund to bring housing developments to areas like Northshore that would have otherwise been underused.
"Plus the Employment and Training Hub continues to go from strength to strength, with more than 2,500 residents signed up to help them find skilled roles. This is in addition to the 1,000-plus residents who benefitted from enrolling on a Learning and Skills course last year.
"And with a range of sites like like Durham Lane Industrial Park, Belasis Business Park and Wynyard Business Park, with easy transport access from rail or road, or international links via air or sea, it's easy to see why businesses continue to be attracted to our area."
