A street party taking place in the Borough

People across Stockton-on-Tees are invited to celebrate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III with street parties of their own over the Bank Holiday weekend from Saturday 6 - Monday 8 May.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council will be hosting a Coronation Big Lunch and is supporting a series of events around the Borough to mark the historic occasion.

And as part of those celebrations, residents can plan and host a traditional street party in their neighbourhood, with Coronation party packs provided by the Council to support their efforts.

Councillor Steve Nelson, the Council's Cabinet Member for Health, Culture and Leisure, said: "The Coronation of King Charles gives local communities a brilliant opportunity to celebrate a historical moment and we're looking forward to revealing the full programme of events very soon. A traditional street party is just one of the many ways people can mark the occasion and we encourage anyone wishing to plan a street party to apply as soon as possible, and no later than 3 April.

"We're expecting a significant number of applications for the Bank Holiday period so make sure you register as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

"In the meantime we're finalising plans for other Coronation events and cultural activities across the Borough. Make sure you keep an eye on our social media feeds to stay updated."

Anyone wishing to hold a street party should apply online by Monday, 3 April by visiting the street parties webpage
