Jim Beall

Councillor Jim Beall represents Roseworth Ward and was elected in 2007.

I was elected to the Council in 2007 after more than 30 years working in local government. Most of my experience during those years was working in a social care environment - both children and adult services. I started as a care assistant, moved into social work and eventually into operational and strategic management positions.

I was appointed to the Cabinet in 2010 and in 2011, became Deputy Leader of the Council whilst continuing in the position as Cabinet Member for Adult Services and Health (and latterly, Leisure and Culture) with special responsibility for a wide range of services for some of the most vulnerable people in our communities. After over a decade of undertaking these lead roles, I gave them up to accept the honour of being Mayor 2023 to 2024.

Throughout this whole period, I have continued to actively represent and help the residents of Roseworth Ward and in recent years being a member of Roseworth Big Local Partnership - a National Lottery project providing services in the area.

As well as my duties as a Ward and Borough Councillor, I represent the Council on a number of external bodies including:

• Cleveland Fire Authority
• Teesside Pension Fund
• North East Regional Employers Organisation
• The Ropner Trust

I have extensive Community & Voluntary Sector governance experience including being the Chair of the Eastern Ravens Trust children's charity which provides services to disadvantaged young people including young carers and provides school holiday support programmes in Roseworth .

I couldn't possibly do all of this without the support and understanding of my loving wife, Pauline. Since she couldn't "beat me", she joined me on the Council representing Stockton Town Centre Ward. When I have any free time, I enjoy being a grandfather, live music and comedy plus popular performing arts in general and occasionally holidaying abroad when we can get a dog sitter! I also follow Middlesbrough Football Club.
