Stockton-on-Tees is home to many parks, nature reserves, woodlands and other green spaces.
Allison Trainer Park
Allison Trainer Park was renamed in 2011 as a tribute to former local Councillor Allison Trainer. There is a commemorative plaque close to the Five Lamps.
The park is open everyday. There is no accessible toilet or designated disabled parking.

Billingham Beck Valley Country Park
With its wildflower meadows, reed-beds, ponds, marsh and woodland, Billingham Beck Valley is a great place to explore whatever the time of year. There's an extensive network of footpaths running through the park, criss-crossing Billingham Beck and extending into the wider countryside.
The park is a haven for wildlife. Birds such as kingfishers and wagtails can be spotted along the beck, while the wetland habitats attract species such as snipe, sedge warbler, coot and moorhen. The low-lying wet grasslands are a attract butterflies in the summer, including the meadow brown, common blue and dingy skipper.

Charlton's Pond
Charlton's Pond is a popular site for walking and angling, and for bird watchers there is always plenty to see on the lake or in the woodland.

Cowpen Bewley Woodland Park
This park comprises large areas of woodland (over 300,000 trees planted in the 1990s), colourful meadows, streams, wetlands and areas of open water.

Grangefield Park
There is a multi-use games area, a mini orchard, and some great wildlife areas alongside the beck. A cycle way, part of National Cycle Network Route 14, runs the full length of the park.

Great North Park
Stretching from Ragworth in the west to Portrack and Tilery in the east, the Great North Park is made up a several green spaces including Norton Grange Marsh Local Nature Reserve, Primrose Hill Park and Tilery Park.

Romano Park
The play area is the main attraction in this small park. It is suitable for children of all ages with features including:
- a rope bridge
- zip wipes
- balancing wires
- sand play
- crowning the skyline
- a "Hill Fort" made of vertical pillars of green oak

Ropner Park
Fully restored to its Victorian splendour, Ropner Park is a real delight at any time of year. Stroll by the lakeside or along tree-lined avenues and admire the beautiful floral displays. There's a play area, tennis courts, bowls club and large grassed areas for games and picnics.
The pavilion houses a café and toilets. The café is run by the Friends of Ropner Park, who also organise a programme of concerts on the bandstand and run other events in the park. The Friends have made a big contribution to the restoration and on-going success of the park, and they welcome new members.

Stillington Forest Park
Woodlands, ponds and wildflower meadows are now well-established on a site that was once dominated by brickworks and ironworks. In the summer, you can find butterflies, damselflies and dragonflies in the grasslands and wetlands.

Tees Heritage Park
The Tees Heritage Park cover the stretch of countryside along the banks of the River Tees between Stockton and Yarm. There are several nature reserves in the park:

- Black Bobbies' Field
- Bowesfield and Preston Farm
- Preston Park Museum and Grounds

Village Park
This small park has a play area, bowls club and an area for ball games.

Wynyard Woodland Park
Wynyard Woodland Park is set on the site of a former railway which now offers an excellent route for walking and cycling. Paths extend into beautiful woodlands and meadows.
There is a cafe in the former station house and a large adventure play area.
The park is also home to Wynyard Planetarium and Observatory.

What's new at Wynyard Woodland Park?
Thorpe Thewles to Station House Cycleway
Over the past few years work has been done to create a new cycle link from the A177 (near Thorpe Thewles) to the Station House. Funded through the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development the project also improved signage along the entire section of the cycleway from Stockton and through the park to the Borough boundary at the A689.

Introductory Willow Weaving Workshop
Looking for a creative and unique experience? Look no further than Wynyard Woodland Park's Introductory Willow Weaving Workshop.
Here, you can enjoy a relaxed and friendly atmosphere as you learn the basics of willow weaving from experienced professionals. They will help turn your ideas into reality and you'll soon have your own handmade piece that you can take home. During your visit you will pick your own willow and gain a brief insight into the history and importance of coppice woodland management. No experience needed.
Funky Foresters
Funky Foresters is an outdoor session for children aged 18 months - 6 years to explore and engage with the natural environment whilst supporting their creative problem-solving, confidence and motor skills.
Funky Foodies
Funky Feet is a physical activity programme for early years. It is a fun session that is suitable for children age 18 months - 6 years which develops a child's fundamental movement skills. These skills are the building blocks a child needs to enable them to develop the skills needed for participation in a range of sport. Families will then participate in basic cooking skills to help teach simple, and healthy ways to create family meals.
